Overview

The fast growing supermarket and food processing sector in Indonesia provides local horticulture producers with new opportunities to secure a better income. However, producers face serious problems to comply with the requirements of these markets regarding volume and quality. Due to this, retailers and food processors often source with a small number of advanced domestic producers only, while a sizeable quantity of their fruits and vegetables’ is imported from neighbouring countries such as Thailand and China. This not only creates additional logistic costs but it is also a missed opportunity for Indonesian farmers to produce for these modern market segments.

To connect producers and market, such a Business Support Organization is needed. Horti Chain Centre (HCC) was established as a commercial Business Development
Service to provide services to enable a better performance of Indonesian horticultural supply chain by stimulating better linkages between producers and local market as well as foreign dynamic market segment. With increasing demand, our service is not limited to horticultural sector, but also including other agri-food sector.
